SCHNAIL (Starcraft Human ‘N’ AI League) development roadmap & extra Patreon rewards!

Going forward with the StarCraft Human ‘N’ AI League, I decided it’s time to involve the public a little more. Oftentimes a software project can appear secretive from the outside – more often than not, we just work on mundane tasks. I try to be open and approachable about what I do, because I think engaging my audience is important if I want to make something great. I decided to share the development roadmap with the general public – aka you. These are broad plans for the most part, and the list is not comprehensive – there are some mundane stuff that doesn’t merit being on the table. So I created a Trello board that you can see here:

I am the Trello board of justice!

And with that, I thought about how to give you something better. I added some new tiers to my Patreon, and with them, new rewards. All tiers contain the rewards from the previous ones, and the stuff below is addition to the existing benefits.

Jumpy Doggo Tier:(10$) You get access to the work-in-progress BWAPI book until release, This contains more than I publish on makingcomputerdothings.com.

Faul Tier (25$): You get a vote on what to work on next in the SCHNAIL project – you can pick anything on the roadmap. This will not decide, but heavily influence that decision. Currently me, the dev team, and the public will have one vote – the audience votes are tallied once a month (I will send you a poll), and taken into consideration. You will get the BWAPI e-book for free when it’s completed.

Gastropod Godparent Tier (50$): You can propose new features to SCHNAIL. We will give serious consideration to this, and if it’s feasible, it will be on the roadmap, and we will try to make it happen. You will get the BWAPI e-book for free when it’s completed, and get lifetime access to updates.

(Note: Remastered support is not up to us, and we will do it as soon as we are able to)

Savior of Sentience Tier (100$): This tier is for the ones that want to truly give a lot to this project. You will also receive a physical copy of the BWAPI book upon release.

Also, Hannes suggested a Patreon goal: If I reach 25 patrons – of any tier – I will add a (faux) Latin translation, and call it Deus Vult edition. It is just the right amount of absolutely stupid and funny.

Up next…

Moving to beta with full speed. I have some help now, and I feel the hard problems are solved. Still, development is a time-consuming endeavor. Closed beta should commence in January 2020. I want to launch in February, but I can’t commit on that just now. In any case, we are on good track. Now you can see the roadmap, and the focus. I’m also planning on cooperating with some streamers who are better gamers than me (not a high bar to be honest), and doing more streams before launch, like the awesome one ZZZero did.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for updates!
